LENT | The 14 stations of the cross | 2025
The 14 Stations of the Cross retrace Jesus’ journey to the crucifixion. Each station reflects on His suffering, sacrifice, and love.
Station 1: The Journey to easter: jesus prays alone
In the quiet shadows of Gethsemane, Jesus faces His darkest hour. He prays alone, His heart heavy with the weight of what’s to come—betrayal, suffering, the cross. His plea is raw: “Father, if possible, take this cup from me. Yet not my will, but Yours be done.” His sweat falls like blood, His agony unmatched. His disciples sleep, unaware of His burden. But even in sorrow, He surrenders. Gethsemane teaches us that faith isn’t the absence of fear—it’s trusting God even when fear is overwhelming.
station 2: jesus is arrested
The night is thick with tension as Judas leads a mob to Jesus. A kiss—meant for love—becomes the ultimate betrayal. Jesus doesn’t flinch. He could summon legions of angels, yet He surrenders to the Father’s will. Peter fights back, cutting off a man’s ear, but Jesus stops him, choosing mercy instead.
Judas chose silver. Peter chose violence. The disciples chose fear. But Jesus chose love. His surrender wasn’t weakness; it was obedience. And because of that, the story doesn’t end in the garden. It ends in victory. Surrender to God’s plan isn’t defeat—it’s the road to resurrection.
Station 3: the sanhedrin tries Jesus
The night is cold, and Jesus stands before the Sanhedrin—seventy-one men determined to condemn Him. False accusations fly, but He stays silent until the high priest demands, "Are you the Messiah?" Jesus answers, "I am." With that, the verdict is set—death.
The irony? These men spent their lives waiting for the Messiah, yet they rejected Him because He didn’t fit their expectations. Pride blinded them. Jesus, on the other hand, chose silence, surrender, and trust in the Father. Because surrender to God’s will never ends in defeat. It ends in resurrection.

Station 4: Peter Denies Jesus
Peter’s story is one of failure, redemption, and purpose. Once bold, he swore he’d never deny Jesus, yet fear overtook him. Three times he denied his Lord, and then the rooster crowed. Shame crushed him. But failure wasn’t the end. Jesus restored him, commissioning him to “feed my sheep.” Peter’s past didn’t define him—grace did. Like Peter, we all fall short. The question is: will we let failure hold us back, or will we let Jesus redeem it? Because in His hands, even our worst moments can lead to something greater.

station 5: pilate sentences Jesus
Pilate knew Jesus was innocent, but when the pressure mounted, he caved. He chose self-preservation over justice, washing his hands as if that could erase his guilt. Meanwhile, Jesus stood firm—silent, surrendered, yet stronger than Pilate could ever be. Pilate’s mistake wasn’t ignorance, but compromise. How often do we do the same? When faced with opposition, will we stand for truth or take the easy way out? Pilate chose comfort. Jesus chose the cross. The question is—what will we choose?

station 6: jesus wears the crown
The soldiers mocked Jesus, placing a robe on His shoulders and a crown of thorns on His head. They thought they were humiliating Him, but they were revealing the truth—He is the King. He could have stopped it all, but He endured it for us. True strength isn’t in power or retaliation, but in surrender to God’s will. The world chases status; Jesus embraced suffering. One day, every knee will bow to Him. The question is, will we bow now—in surrender, not mockery? Because He is worthy.

STATION 7: JESUS CARRIES THE CROSS
Welcome back! In Session 7, we’re walking with Jesus as He carries His cross (John 19:6, 15-17). Beaten and broken, He bears the weight of our sin on the Way of Suffering. Simon of Cyrene steps in, showing us what it means to carry a cross we didn’t choose. Jesus’ love endured every step for us. Will we follow Him, even when it’s hard? He walked to our salvation—and we don’t walk alone.

STATION 8: SIMON CARRIES THE CROSS
Simon of Cyrene didn’t plan to carry Jesus’ cross. Pulled from the crowd, shocked and unwilling, he shared in Christ’s suffering. Yet, what felt like a burden became a blessing. Sometimes, God places unexpected crosses on our shoulders—not to crush us, but to bring us closer to Jesus. Like Simon, we’re invited to surrender, to walk with Him, and trust that no burden is wasted in His hands.

STATION 9: JESUS SPEAKS TO THE WOMEN
As Jesus stumbled toward Golgotha, He paused to comfort weeping women, warning them to grieve for what lay ahead. Even in agony, His heart beat for others. He pointed beyond the moment to a world broken by sin, offering both a warning and a call to compassion. Jesus shows us: real love looks past our own pain to see others. And in Him, we find hope—because sorrow, no matter how deep, will never have the final word.

STATION 10: THE DAY LOVE WAS NAILED DOWN
Love isn’t soft music and pretty vows. Real love was nailed down on a hill called Golgotha—bloody, brutal, breathtaking. Jesus didn’t just die; He rescued. Not held by nails, but by love. While the crowd mocked, He forgave. While one thief cursed, the other believed—and got paradise. The cross isn't just a story—it's your turning point. Don’t rush past Friday. That’s where freedom was bought… where mercy bled… where Jesus said, “You will be with Me.”

STATION 11: THE CRIMINALS SPEAK TO JESUS
Two thieves. One Savior. At Station Eleven, we witness grace up close—a dying criminal reaching for mercy, and Jesus welcoming him home. No church resume, no last-minute cleanup. Just faith. This isn’t just history—it’s a living invitation. One man mocked. One man believed. Same distance from the cross, but a world apart in response. And the question echoes: Which thief am I? Grace still reaches. Even now. Even you. Even me. Let’s walk toward the cross—and find hope waiting.
